TEACHING AT NEWDEAL INSTITUT
FRENCH CLASSES BY LEVEL
There are 5 class groups according to CEFR levels. From beginner to advanced level, our French classes are homogeneous for optimum progress.
Before arriving in Bordeaux, students are assessed in writing, and an oral interview on the day of arrival confirms their level and assigns them to a group.
We organise group changes in agreement with theteaching team if thestudent‘s level does not meet expectations.
OUR FRENCH COURSES
Our French language courses are organised in small classes (between 8 and 10 students, with a maximum of 12 for à la carte courses). This is an important condition to enable students to participate actively. The atmosphere within the French classes is friendly, encouraging active exchange. Small groups provide individual, attentive monitring to each student.
THE CONTENT OF OUR FRENCH COURSES
Our French-language teachers use a variety of activities to motivate and encourage the class. The 4 skills (writing, reading, listening and speaking) are worked on in each French foreign language course. We use role-playing and situational games, as well as authentic written, audio or video materials. Alternating the work of different skills as well as the use of various media makes for a dynamic and stimulating learning environment. OurFrench teachers also favour a fun approach to teaching, which is a key factor in learning.
Our method for learning French has been recognised by the FLE quality label. Our teachers use a pragmatic and effective action-based approach that aims to develop students’scommunication skills. We put theFrench language in its context of use to meet the concrete needs of students. Writing, grammar and phonetics are also an integral part of our training.
THE RESOURCES OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE SCHOOL
Our school is equipped with all the materials needed for a wide range of activities: videos, audio documents, computer work, etc.
Our programmes are organised according to levels in line with the recommendations of the CEFR . Respect for the CEFR frame-work and syllabus allows for consistency that ensures constant progression. Our teachers use the school’s own materials and textbooks selected by theteaching team.
Teachers are given the option of adapting their teaching materials to suit their classes (creating dedicated materials, taking account of specific requests), which means that we can respond to the interests, profiles and needs of our students.
INDIVIDUAL MONOTORING
Our French school allows you to enjoy specific support and tutoring. The head-teacher is available to students who require advice or extra support for their learning. Teachers can offer an appropriate programme of independent study for students with specific needs or difficulties.
We organise weekly assessments (on Fridays) to ensure that students have understood and assimilated the week’s lessons. This is an opportunity to see how much progress has been made and how skills have improved, or on the contrary, to identify difficulties and work on them independently.
At the end of the stay, a level certificate indicating the number of hours of lessons taken and the period is given to the student.
